Your download should be in your browser’s download list
You are downloading the setup program for Excel Data Cleaner, data-cleaning software that runs inside Microsoft Excel on Windows (free edition, up to 100 records per file). Setup shows the license agreement (EULA) before it installs anything. The one change it can make to Excel’s settings, adding its folder to Excel’s Trusted Locations, comes from a box that is ticked by default and that you can untick.

Rather not run a setup program, or your browser held the file back? Download the workbook on its own, a single .xlsm file. Nothing is installed and no Windows setting is changed: save it in a folder you back up, open it in Excel for Windows and allow its macros. It shows the same license agreement and checks in the same way.
What the setup program does
- Installs the workbook and its icon in Documents\ExcelGurus\Excel Data Cleaner (you can choose another folder), Start menu shortcuts, a desktop shortcut you can untick, and its uninstaller and settings in your Windows user profile. No administrator rights.
- A box, ticked by default, adds that folder and its subfolders to Excel’s Trusted Locations, so the workbook normally opens with no macro warning. Untick it to leave Excel as it is.
- Setup itself sends nothing. The workbook shows the license agreement again the first time it opens; once you accept it there, it tells our server that a copy has been opened, then checks in normally once a day when it is opened. These messages carry the product, its version, whether a license is active and anonymous identifiers, including a random installation ID that Setup keeps in your Windows user profile. They never carry anything from your spreadsheets (Privacy Policy).
- To remove it: Installed apps in Windows Settings (Apps & features on Windows 10 and early Windows 11), or Uninstall in the ExcelGurus Start menu folder. That takes the folder back out of Excel’s Trusted Locations and asks whether to keep your files (uninstall steps).
Windows may show a SmartScreen notice the first time a new setup program runs. If it does, its details should name the publisher ExcelGurus LLC.
